Investing in Singapore, as involved as you want to be
Whether you are opening your first account or have been investing for years, you choose how hands-on to be: do it yourself, decide each move together (Advisory), or have your portfolio managed for you within a mandate you agree (Managed Accounts). It all sits with one representative, so you can change the mix as your life changes.
You will be speaking with Isaac Fang, CFARepresentative of Phillip Securities

- Do it yourself
- You decide and trade
- Decide together (Advisory)
- Proposal-Acceptance Arrangement: I propose, you confirm
- Managed for you (Managed Accounts)
- I decide within a mandate agreed with you
Do it yourself
Your own account, with a person behind it
For people who prefer to make their own calls but want one place for everything and someone to call when they need help.

POEMS multi-asset account
One account with PhillipCapital for shares, ETFs, unit trusts, bonds and more across global exchanges. Tagged to me, it means I can service it for you: account matters, corporate actions, questions about a market.
Account opening is online with Singpass MyInfo. Send me a message and I will send you the link.
See this service on my PhillipCapital profile (listed there as Stocks & Shares).
Decide together (Advisory)
I propose, nothing moves without your yes
For people who want proposals on their portfolio, with the reasoning attached, and the final word on each trade.
Securities Advisory Service
A portfolio of globally listed securities run as a Proposal-Acceptance Arrangement. I send proposals with my reasoning; no order is placed without your confirmation. You can set the direction: an allocation you want, or a rule such as every holding must pay a dividend.
- Starts from SGD 25,000, in cash or by transferring in shares you already hold.
- No lock-in period. You can add or withdraw.

Unit trust dividend portfolio
A portfolio of unit trusts chosen for their regular distributions, paid out to your bank account. Distributions are not assured; fund managers can reduce or suspend them, and the value of the units can fall as well as rise.
Managed for you (Managed Accounts)
Discretionary portfolio management: a manager acting within your mandate
For investors who would rather delegate the day-to-day decisions, made within a mandate agreed with them, and hold one person accountable for them.
Discretionary portfolio management (Phillip Managed Account)
I manage a portfolio for you within a mandate agreed with you, without needing your approval for each trade. Trades within the mandate do not wait for your reply. The mandate can include hedging, including short positions within set limits. Short positions carry the risk of losses greater than the amount invested.
- The securities are held in your own name, in your own account.
- Online access to your holdings, and monthly statements.
- No lock-in period or withdrawal restrictions.
- A custom mandate built around your needs is available from SGD 250,000.
This is a managed account, not a collective investment scheme or unit trust.

Questions about investing with Isaac
Fees depend on the approach and the size of the portfolio. Ask for the current fee schedule for the approach you are considering.
All investments carry risk, including the possible loss of the amount you invest. The right approach depends on your objectives, your finances and how much time you want to spend on it. Seven considerations help narrow it down.
What is discretionary portfolio management?
Discretionary portfolio management means a portfolio manager makes the buy and sell decisions for you, within a written mandate you agree in advance, without asking you before each trade. With Isaac this is the Phillip Managed Account. The securities stay in your own name and account, you have online access and monthly statements, and the mandate sets the limits he works within.
What is the difference between a Proposal-Acceptance Arrangement and a managed account?
The difference is who makes the final decision. Under a Proposal-Acceptance Arrangement (Advisory), Isaac sends a proposal with his reasoning and nothing is traded until you confirm. In a managed account (Managed Accounts), trades within your mandate go ahead without waiting for your reply. Discretionary or Proposal-Acceptance Arrangement sets out the trade-offs.
How much do I need to start?
A Proposal-Acceptance Arrangement on listed securities starts from SGD 25,000, in cash or by transferring in shares you already hold. A custom discretionary mandate is available from SGD 250,000. A POEMS account is opened online with Singpass MyInfo.
Is there a lock-in period?
No. Neither the Proposal-Acceptance Arrangement nor the Phillip Managed Account has a lock-in period, and you can add or withdraw.
What does it cost?
Fees depend on the approach and the size of the portfolio. Ask Isaac for the current fee schedule for the approach you are considering.
I already have a POEMS account. Do I need another?
PhillipCapital lets you hold more than one POEMS account and choose which representative services each one. An account tagged to Isaac lets him help with all your servicing needs.
I invest through other platforms. Why would I open a POEMS account too?
A second account linked to your CDP account is another route to the market. Some people simply like having more than one.
Can I combine approaches?
Yes. You can keep part of your money self-directed and part under a Proposal-Acceptance Arrangement (Advisory) or a managed mandate (Managed Accounts), and change the mix over time. Asset classes: one view, many ways to hold it is a good first read on what each holding asks of you.
Not sure which way suits you?
Tell me how hands-on you want to be and roughly what you are investing for. We can work out the mix from there.
