Income WealthLink 1intro

Income WealthLink is a single premium investment-linked plan (ILP) that is designed to meet your wealth accumulation needs. It gives you the option to invest in any of the ILP sub-funds available for this plan.

This product is suitable for those with the following intents:

  • to invest 100% upfront after fulfillment of the premium charge from Day 1.
  • Protection against death and accidental death.
  • Low investment cost with no bid-offer spread and no policy fees (company retains right to with advance notice), with only premium charge of 3.5%.
  • Broad range of funds curated based on our selection.
  • Flexibility with low minimum single premium, can withdraw and top up anytime.

The write up I did on whether ILPs are good or bad, touched on the use of ILPs in estate planning where the value of investments cease to fluctuate during the probate process but instead pays out as a death benefit thereby creating estate liquidity in the process. This is what I am referring to.

Considering the upfront premium charge of 3.5%, it is obvious that such estate planning utility does not come free. But it is decent at this point in time.

Some things to note. This review post will get dated. And the product might not be available for new subscriptions at some point. Hopefully this serves as reference for future policyholders who have forgotten what they have taken up.

There can be shifts in planning narratives over time. For example, limited premium tenures gain popularity over the years because people are less confident of their future earning capacity or sustainability of income levels. Regular payout features gained popularity when more and more people are in tune with the FIRE (Financial independence retire early) movement. An extended period of low interest rates brought down insurance products’ returns yield for policy holders, but now in a rising interest rates environment, things are set to change.

Income WealthLink may or may not fit into your financial plans. Understand that there is no best plan for all time, but there is a method to objectively facilitate your decisions. Read more about it here.

You know what I do, let me know how I can be of service.
